RevoPSy cited in a peptide vaccine poster against melioidosis

· László Molnár · Publications, Peptides

We are glad to see RevoPSy in the scientific literature of our partners. The poster "New peptide-based vaccines to target melioidosis", presented at the 38th European Peptide Symposium (EPS 2026) in Vienna, by Krisztina Kiss, Julen Tomás-Cortázar, Siobhán McClean, Viktor Farkas and Kata Horvati comes from the Momentum Peptide-Based Vaccines Research Group at the HUN-REN Research Centre for Natural Sciences (TTK) in Budapest, together with UCD Conway Institute (Dublin) and the HUN-REN – ELTE Protein Modeling Research Group. It names RevoPSy as the classical batch-type SPPS synthesizer and cites our peptide synthesizer page as reference 5. We have marked both places in red below.

What the poster is about

Melioidosis, caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei, is estimated to cause around 165,000 cases a year, with a fatality rate of up to 45%. The group works on peptide vaccine candidates built from two epitope peptides, P1 and P7. The peptides are myristoylated, the oxidation-prone methionine is replaced by non-oxidizable norleucine (Nle), and the peptides are encapsulated in PEO-PPO-PEO poloxamer nanoparticles. The poster reports that this shifts dendritic cells toward an activated, mature, antigen-presenting state in vitro.

Where RevoPSy comes in

Both peptides are difficult to make: they contain hard amino acid couplings, oxidation-prone residues and aspartimide/racemization-prone positions. The poster compares two synthetic routes:

  • Classical batch SPPS on RevoPSy: double coupling for difficult amino acids and 0.1 M HOBt with 2% DBU in piperidine for Fmoc deprotection at room temperature (3 × 5 min). The poster reports 40.3% crude purity.
  • Continuous-flow SPPS: heat-assisted single coupling and special building blocks, with 58.5% crude purity.

The poster's conclusion is that both approaches deliver the selected peptides with good purity, and that the same amount of desired product is obtained per 1 mg of crude peptide.

Try RevoPSy with your own sequence

RevoPSy runs up to six parallel syntheses with standard reagents and gives you full control over every coupling, washing and deprotection step, which is useful for difficult sequences.
